Backup fails (can't access file, being used) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Win7 SP1 x64 client that can no longer be backed up. It has multiple drives, but for now I've only selected the C: drive. Backups started failing a while ago and I've just now started troubleshooting, so I'm not sure what changed when they started failing.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled the connector, rebooted server and client, and repaired backups (there were no errors). The client C: drive is 111G and has 19G free. The server backup drive has 1.6T free of 2.7T.

The file named in the error message, GlobalCluster.4096.dat, is 11.8G and it's modification timestamp is during the failed backup.

There are three errors in the server event log (below.) Any ideas? Thanks...

  • WHS2011 does not support server Backup drives >2TB as it's limited by the .vhd technology it uses!
