Why MSBot see our website in the wrong language? RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of my clients website is flagged as if it's a Dutch website fro some reason. I have no idea why.
We are the first registere of the domain names, so it can't be the previous owners website.
All the meta tags are "en-us".
The dedicated server is physically in the US. So the region shows it as "US"
There are no words what soever in Dutch in any part of the website.
All the HTTP headers are checked as well.
I don't understand why MSBot sees it asif the website is in Dutch.

  • Hi Korato,

it is possible that there is an issue with the Akamai feed. These issues usually correct themselves, and I was able to find your site in our us-en market index, so I do not believe this is causing a negative impact on your results.

  • Thanks,  I see.
That might be the case for that website. It's pretty new domain.

    how about this one?

    www.cozydays.com

it has been online since 2005 with the same exact homepage with minor changes in the layout.
However, we are unbale to understand why it has the same problem.
    it hasn't fixed itself.

go to www.live.com and search for cozydays in the en-us market. You'll see the only pages found are in ducth with couple exceptions.
Now that I put them on the webmaster tools for Live, it revealed itself as if it's in Ducth
    :-)

    Any help is appreciated...
    thank you...

  • Hi Korato,

I've submitted this issue to our relevance team. You haven't said, but are you sure your servers are located in the US?

  • Hi Korato,

Any change? I noticed that cozydays.com now shows up for that search as #1. I don't remember it doing that last time I checked.

  • Hi Brett,
thank you for keeping an eye on this one. However it still shows as if the website is in Dutch :-)

    http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=cozydays&mkt=en-us

    :-(

yes indeed, if u search for the domain name, it has been showing up as #1, like u said.
    http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=cozydays.com

I'm not worried about the ranking #1 or #20. Once the language issue is fixed, it will be in the SERPS.

Thank you for your help but the language issue is still on :-(
