  • I am trying to install Home Server 2011 on an older machine, it meets the minimum requirements. I have disabled all the onboard raid chips and such as to not interfere with anything. I am receiving the following error:

  • Try removing the existing partitions off the hard drive. It may help.

I do not think it is related the current problem but you do have a network cable attached from the machine to your network?.

  • Sorry Guys nothing further I can add. My installation of the beta's etc throught to the OEM I have just purchased has gone fine from DVD.

During the beta process I did have an issue with bare metal restores from USB stick but other than that it's all been fine. Maybe someone else can offer some things to try. :(

Not sure whether relevant when trying restores via a 1 GB flash drive, during beta/rc days, I had issue's with the smaller drive and ended up using an 8 GB flash drive for reliability. If your trying to install from a smaller than recommended USB flash drive could that be your problem?.

  • Same problem here. I'm using the download from MSDN. It fails the same way for

    - VMWare guest using the iso file

    - ACER H340 using a bootable USB stick

It used to work with a pre-releas version (don't remember the exact version)

  • In the meantime I've resolved the issue. The download was corrupted.

It looks like that the new MS Download Manager does not work very reliable.
