Hi, I've inherited a fairly large project which uses Sync Framework to synchronise a Sql Server CE 3.5 local database with a "full" Sql Server instance.
I've gone through lots of the documentation on the Sync Framework and created a small sample application which syncs CE to Sql Server correctly but none of the documentation that I've found so far mentions a visual studio sync designer or .sync file.
I'm not entirely sure what version of the Sync Framewok the project uses, it seems to require version 1, 2 and 2.1 to all be installed before it builds correctly.
Is the .sync file an old way of creating the appropriate .sync classes or a new way? Does it come with the sync toolkit/sync 4.0 CTP? Is it supported in Visual Studio 2012?
Another thing is the database that I've inherited contains _Tombstone tables but the walkthroughs that I've done don't seem to create tombstone tables in either the CE database or the full instance. This makes me wonder how the database was provisioned and
how I'd go about changing the schema if necessary in future releases. (It seems sync framework doesn't suit iterative development of a database schema)
I'm totally new to the Sync Framework and the previous developers aren't available to help me with this project. I'm not sure if I should consider removing the .sync file and manually writing the appropriate code for sync to ensure I'm up to date and remove
the dependencies on the older versions of sync framework.
Any help with letting me know what I've inherited would be gratefully received.
