    I'm trying to restore from a windows home server backup after my hard drive crashed. I am able to copy most files, but the files in Users/myself/Local Lettings are not accessable, one of the files i need is my outlook pst file. Local setting won't copy to my new hard drive like the other non-hidden files. I tried taking ownership of the files but the backup files are write protected.

    Clear as mud right, hope someone can help.

    Try restoring the file to an alternate location on the clients harddisk.
    Once you have the file restored you can copy it to the proper location. Make sure Outlook isn't running as it will lock the current .pst file as "in use".

    Btw: The documented way to restore a client after a disk crash is using the "Client Restore CD".
    This will restore a backup of the failed disk to the replacement disk. No need to restore single files.
