Update virus and spyware protection

  I have a red alert to update virus and spyware protection.  When I open OneCare under Protection Plus, Virus and spyware definitions, it says out of date and checking for updates.  However, it never updates.  When I click the update tab nothing happens.  My subscrition is up to date and I have not added any new software.
