WHS2011 Launchpad will not load on Win 7 Home Media (Acer 5750 i7 laptop client) after applying Microsoft June 2013 monthly updates on both this Win 7 client & WHS 2011 Home Server (Tranquil LEO i5) RRS feed

  • BEFORE APPLICATION OF M/S JUNE 2013 MONTHLY UPDATES ON BOTH WIN 7 Home Media & WHS2011 SERVER:

    Both client & server fine.

    AFTER APPLICATION OF M/S JUNE 2013 MONTHLY UPDATES ON BOTH WIN 7 Home Media & WHS2011 SERVER:

    WHS2011 LAUNCHPAD can no longer be loaded from either the taskbar or "all programs" - nothing happens on attempted execution - task manager confirms it's not running.  DASHBOARD can be executed from both  "all programs" & via network/remote desktop.

    M/S JUNE 2013 MONTHLY UPDATES were applied as presented on both machines, viz.:  the 9 non-".NET Framework" updates (+ latest optional Microsoft Security Essentials on Win7 client only) - restart - the 3 ".NET Framework" updates - further restart - (+ a check, as I always do, that no further updates are available - there were none). All updates reported as successful in Windows Update on both machines.

    COMMENT:  This would appear to be a M/S issue whereby either >=1 of the updates or the sequence of update application was erroneous (probably only on the WIN7 client, but possibly on both if this is a ".NET Framework" issue).  PLEASE WILL M/S INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE.

  • This issue has mysteriously resolved itself following the latest updates to: Skype with Outlook, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Air & Adobe Shockwave Player - & numerous restarts.  My apologies to Microsoft.
