Merging 2 PWA Instances into 1 new Instance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any documentation regarding how to merge 2 PWA instances into 1 new PWA instance.

This is a 2010 version to 2010 version merge.

  • In that case I would take the larger of the two intances to the new farm and create a PWA site based on the 4 project server database backups and content database backup then manually take the data from the other smaller instance and import into the new farm. Resources / users can be copied across using excel export / import of resource pool, projects via MPP files, config via playbooks merge (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg128952.aspx).

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

There is no automated approach to this, I would recommend keeping one instance then manually add the additional resources / users / projects / config to the instance that you keep.

    Thanks

  • Agreed it would be easier just to move the smaller group into the larger groups enviroment, but the client wants to have a new enviroment [farm] with merged information.
