New install from Genuine Advantage Kit

Question

Hello everyone,
Got a huge problem. My PC finally died after many years of faithful service. I decided to take the plunge and buy a Mac as I do more video work than anything these days. But I've run into a problem.
Several programs I use at work (video is a side job) are Windows programs so I figured no problem, since my PC is dead I'll just install XP on a partition and use those programs there when I need to. Here's the problem.
The PC I used to use had crashed once and I re-installed XP. I was flagged as a non-licensed version so I purchased the "Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP Professional" CD and took care of the issues. Now when I'm trying to install XP onto my partition, it's asking for the activation key but there is no sticker anywhere on my Genuine Advantage kit. It has the COA on the back of the CD case but that's it.
Any advice???

Hello HauntSlider,
The product key for WGA Kit products is not on the package as you have found out. The product keys were generated and emailed to you as part of the WGA ordering process.
If you happen to have saved or printed that email, it will be in that email. If not, contact Microsoft Customer Support at 866-530-6599 or see this page for more assistance: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/genuine/getting-genuine
Regarding installing the WGA Kit license on your Mac (with bootcamp, most likely), it is true that late editions of the WGA Kit had a supplemental End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) that limited the use of the WGA Kit to the original computer that needed to be "genuine-ized" and withdrew the right to move the license to a different computer. However, early issues of the WGA Kit came with a standard full retail license which would allow you to move the license to a new computer, so whether the EULA allows you to use the WGA Kit license on the Mac would be driven by the specific EULA under which your WGA Kit was sold. If in doubt, please read the EULA that came with your WGA Kit.

Unfortunately, a Windows XP product key obtained through the Genuine Advantage Program is non-transferrable to a different computer...sorry!
