Switch from current MCITP Enterprise Admin track to Server 2012 track ? RRS feed

    Hi all,

    i'm currently on the MCITP Enterprise Administrator track (Server 2008 R2), i already passed the 70-680 (Windows 7) and the 70-642 (Network Infrastructure) exams, right now learning for the 70-640 (Active Directory) exam.
    now that the rest of the exams required for MCITP is going to be retired in July 2013 (correct me if i'm wrong..), i am wondering if i can switch to the new Server 2012 track without finishing the Server 2008 R2 track. Is that even possible?

    any recommendations will be appreciated.

    Yes the exams required to gain MCITP: Enterprise Administrator retire in July 2013

    Yes you can switch to the 2012 track without finishing the 2008 track however your existing certifications (70-680 and 70-642) cannot be used to gain 2012 certifications i.e. you will need to start from scratch with the new 2012 certifications.

    Given that you've already got 70-642 and you're currently studying 70-640, your best option may be to do the 70-640 and 70-646 exams to get your MCSA: Windows Server 2008 certification and then upgrade this to MCSA: Windows Server 2012 by doing exam 70-417.

    it looks like an option to go for the MCSA Server 2008 certification, i will check that out.
