Office Genuine Validation Successful, but still no access to OGA content RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have seen the posts on this subject and I don’t have two copies of Office installed on my machine.  When I attempt to access validated content the pop-up says that the following Office products are not genuine and there is nothing listed in the window.

    Here is my diagnostic report.

(Note:  I did delete the ActiveX after several failed attempts and reboots hoping it would reinstall on subsequent validations.  I have not been prompted to reinstall.)

  • Stephen,

Thanks for the assistance.  Andy G from Microsoft Support gave me the following instructions and they worked.  Deleting the data.dat and reauthorizing corrected the issue with the OGA.

    Thanks again
    John

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
The validation issue can be caused by several factors, such as incorrect local system settings or an incorrect Product Key. The troubleshooting process can be time consuming, but please be assured that I will assist you through the course of this case.

Before moving on, I would like to confirm if any of the following programs is installed:

    1. A trail version of Office, especially Office Home and Student 2007 which can be preinstalled when you bought your computer.
    2. Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system.
    3. Office Viewer or Converters, such as Power Point Viewer 2007, Word 2002 Converters and so on.

Please understand that the OGA validation process can be affected by these programs. Therefore, if any of the programs is installed, please refer to the following steps to remove it from Add or Remove Programs.

    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Click the Uninstall a program link in the Programs group.
    3. Click to select the program you would like to remove from the listing of installed products, and then click the Uninstall button to remove it.

After that, please try to download a template to check if the issue has been resolved. If the issue persist, let's perform the following steps to fix the issue.

First, please let me know if you have visited the Microsoft Genuine Advantage (MGA) Diagnostic website located at the address below:

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/

On the above website, we can test some system settings and confirm that there are no Internet Explorer (IE) settings or other factors blocking the validation process.

If you have performed the test on the Diagnostic Site but the issue persists, the problem can occur if the data.dat file is corrupted.

    Let's try the following steps:

    1. Log on to the computer that is experiencing the problem by using an account that has administrator credentials. Then, please click the Start Button, please copy the following command into the Start Search box and press Enter.

    %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Office Genuine Advantage\data

    2. Delete the "Data.dat" file from the %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Office Genuine Advantage\data folder.
    3. Visit the following Microsoft website to confirm that the computer is reported as genuine:

  • Hi JohnE400,

Just curious if you have tried either of these two:

Visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click the Validate Office button.

    OR

Visit the Online Diagnostic Center http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/default.aspx? to have it take a look at your system.

  • Just ran the diagnostic:

    Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Results

    Passed Active scripting allowed
    Passed Display images enabled
Passed Computer time and date correct
    Passed Cookies enabled
    Passed ActiveX enabled
    Passed Windows validation ActiveX loaded
    Passed Office validation ActiveX loaded
    Passed Validation Self-help ActiveX loaded
Passed ActiveX controls connect with Microsoft validation servers
Attempted to access OGA content again:

Received the same pop-up:  You may be a victim of software counterfitting.  The following Microsoft Office software installed on this computer is not genuine:

Then there is nothing showing in the list to show which product is having the issue.

  • Hi JohnE400,

I do not recall seeing anyone posting here with this exact error before.

The offical Microsoft person that works this forum, Stephen Holm, is based on the West Coast so he will begin to review the open posts starting at 12noon EST (9am PST).

You may be asked to initiate a no-charge OGA tech support request.  Here is the link:  http://support.microsoft.com/gethelp/default.aspx?content=ph;en-us;9860

    Good Luck!

  • Good Morning John,

Thank you for posting with us in the WGA Forum. Curious are you part of a corporate environment? Reason I ask is you have Office Enterprise 2007 installed. As Dan suggested we need for you to submit a service request with Microsoft Product Support.First I would like for you to visit  www.microsoft.com/genuine and click the Validate Office button. Next Visit the Online Diagnostic Center http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/default.aspx to have it take a look at your system and repair any problems which it may encounter. Please include your Product Keys for all the Microsoft Office Products with your Service Request so that we may analyze specifics surrounding the problems you are encountering. Again please run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Test (MGADT) again for inclusion with the support incident. This will enable us to review current information after the changes you made. Once this is completed, please reply back to this post and provide the SR # generated by the service request .

    Thank you John,

  • SR# 1097449485

I ran both requests as you asked.  Received the Validation Successful! on the Validate Office Button.  And received the same diagnostic results as posted above (Passed on all accounts).  I forgot to include the Product Id's, thinking I would get an opportunity after the Microsoft Data Collection tool ran.  Oops!

I am part of the Microsoft Partner Program and just had a software failure that caused me to reload windows and all software.  Silverlight wouldn't uninstall and therefore could not upgrade.  Then MS Word was crashing all the time.  I wanted to upgrade to Vista anyway, so I didnt worry about fixing the issue.  I was running the same version of MS Office 2007 on this PC before the reinstall.

  • John,

I am viewing your SR case number but it appears that you did not provide us with each physical Product key for the Office Suite and Office Stand alone programs. We really need this information.

    Thank you,

    Stephen
