How to trigger a workflow for all activities in a case? RRS feed

  • Hi, NewB question.

    I have added ServiceUnits (whole number) fields to the following entities: Case,  Email, Phone call, appointment, and task.

    What I want is a workflow that zeroes the current Case ServiceUnits field, then runs through the related activities and increments the case ServiceUnits by each of the activity's ServiceUnits.

    I just don't understand how to trigger the workflow only for the Case's related activities.  Any thoughts?

    (NB: I come from a db background, and would prefer to just calculate the total any time the Case was viewed (and not store the value) but from what I understand, Dynamics doesn't work like that.)
