Reuse windows xp serial key? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey, i did some researching but i couldn't find the answer to my question.

I have an older laptop that crashed and can't be repaired anymore, now i have for that laptop a windows xp serial key and i would like to use that key to instal a copy of windows xp on a different computer. (a virtual machine under parallels 5 on mac osx 10.6), why doesn't the setup program accept my serial? How can i make it accept my key?

    Thank you.

  • Hello vanackera,

Is the source of the product key a Windows Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) affixed to a computer, or a yellow orange Proof of License label affixed to a retail packaging for a retail license for Windows?
