GENUINITY PROBLEM WITH MICROSOFT 7 STARTER RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had purchased last year a Desktop PC for myself which had genuine Windows 7 Starter OEM Software. Due to reasons not known to me , I was asked by my Hardware Engineer that I would have to change my motherboard which is not working properly. I had to change the CPU cooler even. The original product key was : <Removed by Moderator> and the Proof of licence Certificate of Authenticity mentioned on the cover is X15-74928.The CD given to me by the vendor is still with me and the Product Key  as mentioned above is also with me.

Now when I have changed the Motherboard, please let me know how to activate the WINDOWS 7 STARTER which had been supplied to me alongwith my Desktop PC since the vendor of the PC is not available now.

  • Unfortunately, since you published your confidential Windows 7 Starter product key on the interent, its probably no good anymore.  Did you replace the motherboard with the exact same model motherboard?  If not, that product key would no longer be valid since OEM product keys are permanently tied to the original motherboard and cannot be reused with a different model motherboard.
