Live Care One telephone Support RRS feed

  • Question

  • My hard drive has crashed.  I need to talk with windows live one care support.  I can not remember the windows ID I used upon getting the subscription.  I want to talk with someone on the phone regarding installation on a new computer with updating operating system and restoring my files through One Care.

  • If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.

Other than getting the LiveID in order to activate on the new PC, the procedure for this is fairly straightforward.

Install OneCare on the new PC by going to http://onecare.live.com and select Get It Now. Upon completion of the installation, open OneCare, click subscribe and login with the same LiveID used originally. (Once you determine what that LiveID is.) Then open OneCare and select the Restore option and restore from another PC. Follow the prompts to specify the backup location or provide the CD/DVDs from the backups.

  • Where's the phone number for support ~ two hours spent and nothing found.  All I did was download the new security update and then lost my firewall protection.  What's up with that.  Followed the troubleshooting and uninstalled Live CareOne and reinstalled.  The program now doesn't recognize my user ID.

No phone to talk to a real person, so I guess my $49.00 subscription is down the you know what.  Don't even consider ever subscribing to this service ~ It's a total waste of time and money.

If it isn't seeing your subscription on a reinstall, that would mean you are not activating with the correct LiveID for your subscription.

Unofficial path - send me an email at sboots@mvps.org with a subject line including "OneCare" (to get past my spam filtering) and in the message body, tell me what country you are in, your forum nickname, and paste this link:

I am not online 24x7, so you may be waiting for a reply, but I'll do my best to hook you up with support.
