CRM Online Migration Question RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm currently investigating how we would go about migrating from CRM 2011 on-premise to CRM Online.  Our deployment is fairly standard, we have made a few customisations and we are also using the Business Productivity Workflow Tools Accelerator (installed when our organisation was using CRM 4.0).  The functionality provided by the accelerator continued to work after the upgrade to CRM 2011 but does anyone know whether it will still work once the deployment has been moved to CRM Online?

    Thanks!

  • The business workflow tools accelerator custom workflows from the on premise environment will not work in the online environment. Custom workflow rules are not supported in CRM Online. They will need be re-created as plugs-ins to function. It has to do with the .net 4 framework.

See this msdn article that states that custom workflow assembles are only possible in on-premise.

"Microsoft Dynamics CRM workflows are not supported to run in sandbox mode. To prevent execution of any arbitrary or malicious code in custom workflow activities and custom XAML workflows that could compromise data security, custom workflow activities and custom XAML workflows are not supported for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online."
