Computers on network can't see each other RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit connected to a home network by ethernet. Also on the network is a wireless printer and a MacBook running SnowLeopard. Both the Windows 7 pc and the Mac see the printer fine, but neither of the computers can see the other. They both access the internet fine, and they can ping each other by IP address but not by name. I have network discovery turned on, all security software turned off, and file sharing (without passwords) turned on. Changing the settings of any of these things seems to make no difference. I also previously had the windows 7 pc connected by wireless, and the behavior was the same.

Thanks in advance for your help.
