Keeping Windows HPC head node and client nodes logs on the shared folder

    Question

  • Dear all,

In our project, we have shared space where we are keeping file logs of all of our components. With HPC, it's easy to specify log location for HPC head node to the shared folder during installation but how can we do it for all compute nodes too. We want to keep all the logs by head and compute nodes on the shared folder. Please help us out.

    Thanks,

    Puneet

  • Hi Sharma,

If you run "setup.exe /?" you shall be able to get the answer. Our logs are stored under %CCP_DATA% folder, and this folder can be specified during setup with below parameter:

    [-DataDir]
Specifies the folder for storing data for the HPC cluster, such as operating system images, drivers, and shared folders. The default value is C:\Program Files\Microsoft HPC Pack 2016\Data.

But one thing you need to make sure that the services running on the compute node is able to access the share folder so that the logs can be written to the right place.

And of course, you can change the CCP_DATA if the compute node already installed, but you need restart the service.
