copying group members

  Hi,

  I need to copy some group members from one group to another, or better still remove from one group and add to another.  I can do this locally but what I need to do is move from group in child domain to group in root domain..  I need to do this to several groups but I keep getting error that the destination group cannot be found, I realise I am running it from a default powershell login which is in child domain but I have tried making it changed domain put path in, all to no avail, and as its getting to the point I could do it quicker by hand thought i'd ask if anyone has any powershell scripting ideas of how to achieve this.
