Renewing Windows Live OneCare in Canada RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there:

My original subscription to Live Onecare has run out. But when I went to renew the subscription for another year online, the site would not allow me to put Canada as my address. As a result, I couldn't renew, and I can't find a vendor that sells renewal tokens here.

Anyone have any ideas about how to renew if you live in Canada? Thanks!

Open IE and in Tools/Internet Options, verify that your language setting is correct for your country.

If it is not, click "Add" to select your language and country combination from the list.

Make that selection the default. It should appear at the top of the list.

Remove or demote other entries that are not appropriate for your country.

Please explain "Can't renew in Canada."

Are you encountering a payment form that expects a US address after logging in? If you go to http://billing.microsoft.com and log in, does your Billing Account Profile incorrectly show you are located in the US? Is the location in your LiveID profile correctly show - http://account.live.com ?

I suspect that your Billing account was incorrectly defined as being US based. If so, you have three options.

    1. Contact support for assistance -

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

    2. Renew with a retail key instead of payment information

    3. Abandon this subscription, uninstall OneCare, reinstall from http://onecare.live.com and use a new LiveID that is verified with your correct location in the profile to create a new subscription with a credit card.
