one care renew subscription RRS feed

  • Question

  • Similar problem. I tried one care as a trail, thought it was pretty good so purchased it and installed on 3 PC's ,then two months ago kept getting reminders to renew my subscription, every time i followed the instructions it took me to billings.microsoft.com and low and behold response was "" ......service temporay unavalaible"".  Tried many times  and differnt methods to renew my subscription but with no luck. Started to look at the forums to find and answer and ended up here.

Tried  the macfee unistall, setting defaults and all that. Unistalled one care and reinstalled, and yes still needs to be renewed. Tried yet again same result.

What do I do now go back to macafee!!

  • Open OneCare, click on Help/About...

    Note the Subscription ID

Log in at http://billing.microsoft.com with that LiveID (the subscription ID)

Select the renew link for the OneCare subscription shown. Does that work?

If not, try deleting cookies and temporary Internet files and set Internet Explorer as the default web browser.

If that still does not allow you to proceed with renewal, please contact support.

If you don't wish to renew, and want to use a different protection product, uninstall OneCare - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=663806&SiteID=2

  • I bought a computer from my sister.  She had OneCare on it.  It's now due to renew and I cannot find how to change the credit card information from hers to mine.  How do I change this??

The subscription is associated with her LiveID. If she has OneCare on another PC (it can be on up to 3 with the same LiveID) it is her subscription. A subscription cannot be transferred.

If you wish to have your own subscription, uninstall OneCare, and download from http://onecare.live.com, activating with your own LiveID and either pay with a credit card within 15 days or activate the subscription with a retail product key.

  • She doesn't currently have a computer.  How do I cancel her membership so it doesn't automatically bill her credit card?  I've looked and looked and cannot find it.

  • Hi, Keeta.

Do you know here LiveID (the subscription ID shown in Help/About in OneCare) and her password? Using that you can reach your support options per the instructions in the FAQ -

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

You'll need to contact customer service to cancel the account.

Unofficial path - send me an email at sboots@mvps.org with a subject line including "OneCare" (to get past my spam filtering) and in the message body, tell me what country you are in, your forum nickname, and paste this link http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3422902&SiteID=2  in the message body. I am not online 24x7, so you may be waiting for a reply, but I'll do my best to hook you up with support.

  • Good morning,
I had a trial to One Care and it has elapsed.  I want to get a years subscription and when i tried to fill in the boxes there were no country boxes to fill in only american statesand my telephone wouldnt fit in that box either.  I live in Australia.  So what gives.  I cant talk to Microsoft directly   and just found this.  I dont know if i'll find it again lol.     Microsoft sure make it difficult

Open IE and in Tools/Internet Options, verify that your language setting is correct for your country.

If it is not, click "Add" to select your language and country combination from the list.

Make that selection the default. It should appear at the top of the list.

Remove or demote other entries that are not appropriate for your country.
