Change Front End of Dynamics CRM RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been asked to change the first screen that appears when opening Dynamics CRM. What is the best way to accomplish this change. In essence, I need the Account entity to be the first screen to appear.

Then I need to add and change the "View:" section of Dynamics CRM.  How do you customize these sections? Like adding actions buttons?

  • Hi as I explained earlier, You can use set personal setting to set default to accounts. - Click on Tools menu ---then option- then Set the default pane and default tab property.

Search functionality is built in. Open the entity in the customize mode. Select the quick search system view and add all the fields you want to search on to using "Add Find Columns". You can add any field to it as long searchable property of the field is yes.

Here is navigation path to go to the view.

Settings- customization--customize entities--account-form and views-quick find active accounts

    I hope this helps.

  • I did not really underdstand your question.

But for the first part, you can click on file and option.

It will open up "set personal settings dialog box"

Set the default pane and default tab property.

for accounts default tab will be accounts.

which version of the crm you are using?

You can add button to application ribbon in crm2011.

    I hope this helps.

  • Amreek,

    Thank you for your response.

I am using Dynamics CRM 4.0 and when I open Dynamics 4.0 the first screen that appears is the Activities section. I want to change this function so that the first screen that opens is the Account Entitiy for the entire application not just my version.

I am also trying to modify the the search function. With 4.0 you have the option to change the search function by change the 'View' function which provides filters for the search bar. You can change the 'View' function to like view companies that are Active or Inactive, etc... I am looking to change View functionality to include other filters for the Account entity.

I am looking to add the functionality to allow individuals to search by Account Number, Country etc... Is there away to accomplish this kind of customization?

I am looking to see where I can change front end. I know how to change the entities and attributes but I do not see how to change front end flow and functionality.

  • You can use advanced find to get some of the advanced filtering and searching you are looking for.  In my experience it seems like the application kind of learns some of where you spend most of your time and defaults certain entities based on that.

  • Dear Jamie,

Thank you for your response. This is a requirement. The staff here could really use the Advanced Find feature.

  • It should be at the top of most forms in CRM.  Give it a try and see if it meets your needs and then provide feedback and if this has been helpful feel free to mark it as such and also as the answer to your question.

    Thanks!
