  • Hello rohittehlan,

There is more to having a Genuine License to run Microsoft software than just having a product key that (for the moment at least) reports as Genuine.

If you simply bought a product key from an eBay seller, according to all of the End User Licensing Agreements (EULA) and Software Licensing Terms (SLT) that apply to Microsoft software, the person who sold it had no authority or right to do so.  Therefore, the person who buys it has bought nothing.

The product key you have may be identified by Microsoft's Product Activation and WGA systems as nongenuine tomorrow, next week, or six months from now.  Or it may never be identified as nongenuine.  But the nature of the purchase tells us the License for the software is nongenuine because it was not acquired in accordance with the EULA/SLT.
