Files not opening. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

After running the diagnostic, it is saying I also have an invalid copy.  I am wondering if this is connected to my jump drive not opening.  At work I was trying to open files, but the computer wouldn't let me open anything.  At home, when I open the files, the document says compatability mode, but allows me to open the files.  Most of these files were typed up at work, I may have written a couple at home though. Some of these files I can't use unless the work computer is open, but I can't open them.  Is there any way to recover these without having to print them all out, buy a new jump drive, and type it up again?

    Thank you for your help!

  • Hello xMedix,

When Microsoft developed Office 2007, they introduced a new default file format for Office documents.  There is a compatibility pack that can be downloaded from Microsoft for free and installed on previous versions of Office (Office 2003, XP [aka Office 2002], Office 2000) that allows these previous versions to read, write and save in the new file format.

However, none of the above has anything to do with whether an installation of Office is Genuine or not.  In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click the "Continue" button, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into your post.
