Change in Behavior of Inactive Task from Version 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are well aware that inactive task that are tucked between a predecessor and a successor affect the successor differently in version 2010 and in later versions:

In version 2010 the successor ignores the inactive task as the paths running through the inactive tasks.

In later versions the successor will takes into account the paths running through the inactive task, calculating the inactive task as 0 duration.

We have a customer that asks to see a formal documentation by Microsoft for this change of logic. I couldn't find such. The best I've found is this blog

Can you refer me to a  formal documentation for the functionality?

    Thanks,

    Barak

  • Barak,

I can assure you that the linked article, which I first wrote about 5 years ago and revisited two years later, is completely observational and is based on precisely zero formal documentation from Microsoft.  I would also like to be enlightened. tom
