  • Hi guys,

I had a SSD with windows 8.1 Pro on it and that was activated, no problem at all. Until I did a Hardware update , new motherboard new processor, memory.

I didn't did a new install. I just plugged my SSD in and to see how windows would handle the hardware changes.

No problem at all every worked. But after a day it start to ask for new activation. I tried it but no success ( Error code: 0xC004C003 ) was the result. I have try to call Microsoft first the robot, "your key  is blocked" ?????? not legit ??????

So until now I still have the problem and calling Microsoft works but there seems to be nobody to pick up the gdm phone so .... after a week I will try it this way.

Is there anybody who can help me with this problem ?

  • replacing the motherboard will ALWAYS require re-activation.

If your license was an OEM one, it was locked to the first motherboard on which it was activated, and CANNOT be moved - you would therefore have to purchase a new license for Windows.

No - I do not work for Microsoft, or any of its contractors.
