WHS Remote Access not working with 2Wire 3800HGV-B RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have read all the posts regarding this issue, but everything I have read discusses a different set-up that is more complicated than mine, meaning there solutions are not applicable to my situation.

I simply have my WHS directly wired to a port on my 2Wire 3800HGV-B and remote access is not working. I have opened all the ports suggested by Microsoft and everyone else, but still no luck.

When in the settings for remote access on my WHS, it does not pass these checkpoints: "Verifying that your router is accepting website connections" and "Verifying that your router is accepting remote access connections".  Obviously, the UPnP test doesn't pass either as no 2Wire router supports this.

The domain name check DOES pass, so that is working, although when going to the URL, the page can not be displayed.

I am unsure what to do at this point and any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

It may not be your setup at all.  Your ISP may be blocking one or more ports.  Try going to Shields Up! and find out what the results are for ports 80, 443 and 4125.

  • Did you try testing remote access from a system outside your network? If not please do, and make sure to do this from a location which does not block any of the required ports.Company networks sometimes prohibit or restrict this type of connection.

Alternatively you can try testing if the ports are properly forwarded using Shields Up or . You should find ports 80 and 443 open.

Also please check out this site for detailed guidance on portforwarding on your router. Some routers require a reboot for settings to become effective.

Also please note some inet providers are blocking the relevant ports because they don't want you to run a webserver. Check your contract or ask your provider.

  • Since this was still open, please take a look a a nearly identical thread I just went through.

I do not recommend Shields Up or Portforwarding.com

    Hope you got it fixed.
