Windows 7 Genuine error and free update not available

Question
-
This is the report for a Lenovo machine I bought for my mom and dad. I had to have the mother board replaced. After they replaced it, the Windows o/s showed an error. They told me I had to reinstall the o/s. I ordered the disk and reinstalled, but still receive the non-authentic error.
I think I also updated this machine to the free Windows 10 update prior to having to the mother board failure and reinstalling the Windows 7 software.
Please advise and help to solve this issue for my parents. They are older and have very patient as this has been going on for more than 2 YEARS with the errors, etc.
Thank you!

The problem here is that the change of motherboard broke the link between the license and the computer.
I doubt that MS can help (but it's worth trying!)
Assuming that the machine originally came with either
1)Windows 10 Pro with a downgrade to Windows 7 Pro -
or
2) with Windows 7 Pro itself
then replacement board doesn't have the inbuilt licence that needs to be there for the current Key to activate.
Is there Windows 7 Pro COA sticker on the case? (it may be in the battery compartment)
