confused about required systems RRS feed

  • Some articles that I have read seem to indicate that an AV Edge is required to have full AV in Live Meeting... is this correct?... If so, are there any issues with having Access/Web Conf/AV on one box?

    FYI, we are not running R2 as we do not generally purchase SA...

  • What you are talking about is the Consolidated EDGE server that combines Access, Conferencing and A/V EDGE Services on the same box.
    This is a valid configuration in both R1 and R2
    You should read the EDGE Deployment Guide

  • I have actually read the guide (along with all of the other guides along the way... bit of a choose your own adventure book)... I am aware of the consolidated edge... My questions is:  Do I need an AV Edge in order to provide AV functionality to a Web Conference (in addition to the Web Conf. Edge)?

  • For external clients, Yes. Without the A/V Edge role any Web conferences you have between internal and external parties will not be able to include Audio or Video.  The Web Conferencing role doesn't handle any audio/video media connections.
