Deployment without AD?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I know that it is a must to have AD when deploying CRM, but the customer in question is not wiling to substitute the existing IBM Tivoli Access Manager with AD.  I thought about creating an AD domain specific for the CRM implementation and sych the user data with the IBM TAM software.  Unfortunately I am not big on IBM and don't know how to do it or if its even possible.

I would love any feeback you can offer.  I tried to google but couldn't find anything.

Also, is it possible to make CRM compatible with WebSEAL (another IBM technology used for security I think).

    Thanks in advance!!

  • You need an identity replication/management service like ILM/MIIS (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/ilm/default.aspx). Essentially what it does is when a user logs onto one authentication system, it tells the other authentication systems who they are. The upshot is the user still gets single sign-on and all the hard work is done behind the scenes.

There are rival technologies that do the same thing and the user may already have one in place.

  • Hi Eran, you might also want to consider partner hosted CRM and forget about AD altogether.
