Live Mesh for Mobile: Mobile Phone Support List

General discussion
-
As many of you already know, the ability to access your mesh on a mobile phone through a special WAP site (http://m.mesh.com) has been available for a little while now. Some of you have already been discussing your experiences using different mobile phones here on the forums. The purpose of this thread is to list the issues (or, hopefully, lack thereof) with any and all mobile devices people have tested, and we need your help. If you’ve tried Live Mesh on your mobile phone, please report your experiences here.
We will periodically update this initial post with new reports from within the thread, so search the list below first. If your phone isn’t listed, then please go ahead and reply, and let us know how it works.
Thanks for helping us test Live Mesh for Mobile,
The Live Mesh Team

@Muffin Man 13 sorry the quoting function did not appear to work :-(
If the issue sounds like what I think it is... make sure you have Cleartype disabled on landscape.
Schap's brilliant "Advanced Config 3.3" will allow you to easily configure this setting (you can download from here)

Well i don't know where you guys are getting these Mobile Clients. I had one and it never ever connected or worked on my TILT(don't remember how i got it in the first place) but I deleted it. Now I can't find any link for downloading one. Also Got tired of reading "COMING SOON FOR MOBILE" on the desktop. Anyhow, I'm fast losing interest. What I really find amusing is, the mobile link would never let me sign in from Pocket IE--NEVER. I soft reset. I cleared History. I tried everything. Last night I was playing around with SkyFire and it suddenly occured to me to go to Live Mesh from Skyfire. Yeah, you guessed it. Signed me right in. Fired right up. I keep trying to stop MS bashers, but man it's hard sometimes not to just throw in the towel. I read enough Forums to know that a lot of problems are Operator Failure, but I read and re-read all those Tutorials for this thing and it just shouldn't be this much trouble.Saturday, December 6, 2008 11:53 PM

Sorry if you answered your own question earlier, but just in case- the mobile client should be available when you visit live mesh from your phone, but before you can see it, your Live ID must be granted access to use it, which you can get by visiting:
https://www.mesh.com/Web/Promo.aspx?pcode=Mob_FCFS1
Learn more about it here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/livemesh/
Hope that helps! :)

I tried it on the Blacberry Storm (9530) using default browser, and it seemed to work well.
It would only open .txt files from mesh.com
My .xls files it gave me the option to save them, or it gave "Unsupported media type: application/excel" error, and wouldn't display. Once saved I could open in Excel.
.doc files it would only allow me to save, then I could open.
.pdf files couldn't open, but not sure if app is installed.Tuesday, March 24, 2009 11:20 PM -

If it is running Windows Mobile 6.x, it should work. I am not familiar with the Blackberry line to know for sure what OS it is running, nor can I confirm if it works fine.

Nothing has been announced for any additional operating systems or devices. Since the vision of Live Mesh is to allow sharing of data between all devices and the cloud, it would not be out of the question. At this point, though, I believe you are limited to manually uploading/downloading data via the phone's browser.

I have had lot's of success with the Samsung Omnia, but over the weekend I got the Time Sync with Server issue. I was pointed to
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMeshMobile/thread/febc6709-1575-441d-a327-8a9ef087aa7e, to install the client again. My question, is this really the case? Is my client old and a new beta was released.?
If I install again, will the mobile client pickup up the folder on my phone I am already syncing? This was not the case last time I had to install.Tuesday, May 5, 2009 3:03 PM -
Yes, it is really the case. The problem had to do with the way that the update was deployed, nothing specific to your device. Your client updated, but it is broken - a reinstall is needed to set things straight.
I don't know the specific cause, but as long as you are not running WM6.5, the solution in the thread you pointed to is good. You will not lose the foldes, as I recall they are recognized already, but I'd suggest reviewing the settings after you reinstall.

Try removing Live Mesh from the phone via the Settings/Programs dialog, then reset the device (soft reset) and try the install again.
If that still fails, this post explains how to submit the log and file a bug report.

Unfortunately, the best that I can do is advise you to submit your logs with a bug report. I see that you saw the other thread. It is possible that there is a conflicting program running on that device or some service dependency that is broken.
And
but slightly lower level of performance as a usefulPower consumption if it will not be preferred if the market is a program...Tuesday, September 29, 2009 10:53 PM -

All seems to work good with the Palm Treo Pro (850)
Only issue so far is:
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/LiveMeshMobile/thread/3c801c06-ee38-4b7f-955e-ef0b03e38a9f
but I don't think it has to do with the treo specifically, because others have also reported the problem.

Not at this time. Live Mesh for Mobile has problems on all of the latest HTC devices. You'll need to wait for an update to Live Mesh, and I don't know when that will be available.

I can't speak to support on the emulator, but it works on 6.5 devices (other than the aforementioned HTC issue, which most 6.5 devices are....).

I'm not aware of any limitations for uploads from a mobile browser to your Live Desktop using m.mesh.com on any mobile device with connectivity or any PC to www.mesh.com as long as you are signed in.
However, something appears to be broken. When I navigate to the mobile site, and try to sign in, I encounter this:
Unable to access services. Please try again later.
I'll ping the team.

Has anyone tried this on the N97?
--Friday, December 4, 2009 4:02 PM -
Running on HD2 here. The exe crashes from time to time, but it runs just fine in between. Been syncing my photo/movies folder on my SD card with the mesh perfectly for 3 weeks now.
As I say the moe.exe will either spit out an error of an "unknown configuration, livemesh might not work as expect" or it will crash. I either click ok, or just run it again, and its sync's everything just fine..
Some hours later, I will notice the moe.exe has crashed and restart it.. not ideal, but its works.
I have an HTC version of the HD2, (non operator branded) running the 1.48 rom. (upgraded from 1.43)
Hope this helps.Sunday, January 17, 2010 4:14 AM -

- With Palm focusing on the Prē and webOS, I don't really expect any more Blazer updates.
- Still the same deal with Blazer: No upload at all, and I still get random filenames when trying to download via Blazer. Opera is pretty much the best browser now for Live Mesh on PalmOS devices.
Regarding Palm TX
The browse button does not show up under blazer becuase THe file library has been removed from the Palm TX (this is the library that lets you select files from the sd card), you can find the files for it on the internet, but when they are on the device, blazer will show the browse button, but the device will reset/reboot when broser is clicked on. I am taking that there is an compatability problem betweens the files library and blazer. Maybe a memory problem. On the lifedrive this libary exists and everything works fine, so maybe there is an additional file missing?
FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc
FileBrowser-PFil.prc
FileBrowser-PFil_enUS.prc
Maybe someone will have better luck if these files are installed.
Note, to figure out why blazer crashed when I clicked on browse, I removed files library by ejecting the SD card, then delete files from the device (to avoid sharing violations, make sure sd card is ejected first). But Blazer still crashed, I used Filez, and noticed FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc was not properly removed from memory. This could be due to the fact I did not remove the sd card first and could not delete all files related to 'files'. Andways, once that last file was deleted, I reboot the device, and went back into blazer and noticed that the browse button was gone. So, what I guess, is that blazer detects FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc and if it exists, it will use the settings in this database/library, and I think it needs to be modified to get things working. As FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc could be written for the lifedrive or maybe a bad setting as the lifedrives memory is setup a little bit different.(main memory area appears as a volume and not hidden).
Regarding JSR75 and opera mini needs to be the signed version, wel when I try to upload a file, it warns me about needing a signed copy, but because I don't have security enabled (I might have an hack to disable security/dummy file and to disable to disable opera mini asking me to auto connect to internet), I click on continue, and it asked me if I want to allow opera mini access for the session, and when I allow it access, I can choose a file. It works great :)
These are the two modified file I have.
j9secpol.prc
j9secpol_fileconnect.prcSunday, February 7, 2010 10:18 AM -
j9secpol.prc is found under the simulator section under JVM
You can edit this file using a text editor as long as it dors not mess up the other ASCII at the start and end of the file.
You can play around with the restriction in that file. The security can be change to values: blanket(session), blanket(oneshot), session(session), blanket(oneshot), oneshot(oneshot), allow
to disable connection nag screen:
domain: untrusted
allow: NetAccess
other settings:
allow: LocalConnectivity
allow: WriteUserData
allow: ReadUserData
allow: FileConnection
allow: AppAutoInvoke
allow: MMVideo2.2
I just change the settings, and tried again, file upload works great, and no nag screen about not signed version, and it does not ask me permission.Sunday, February 7, 2010 10:44 AM -
FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc
FileBrowser-PFil.prc
FileBrowser-PFil_enUS.prc
I just tried blazer with FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc deleted and the other files copied onto the device, well browse does not show up.
So, blazer does detect FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc . Also, if I am on anywabsite, I choose Go > Open file, and the device will crash/reset. If I delete FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc, then I wont see go > open file. So like I said another file may be missing, or invalid settings in FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc and it needs to be edited. It could be that blazer has a memory problem. I will search the internet to see if anyone has a fix to this problem. If so, then live mesh will work on blazer.Sunday, February 7, 2010 11:37 AM -

It requires Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1. It also might run on WM 6.5. I suspect that your device is running an older version of Windows Mobile or CE and the client is not supported. You may be able to access m.mesh.com on the device's web browser if you have Internet connectivity, though.

I have not fully experimented with it, but I am running Windows Mobile 6.1 on an HTC Fuze and it looks promising, one of the folders seems to be synchronized with something I just added from a remote computer in an IE web browser to my desktop and the phone. The error message that I recieved the first time I installed the application (Live Mesh mobile cab file, using Mobile Device center) is gone. I'm pretty sure that the Fuze has the same functionality as at least one of the HTC phones mentioned above, but I'm not sure which ones.
It will work fine on th Fuze with WM6.1. It is the later version of WM and the HTC devices that have problems.

password length on the mobile site is restricted to 16 characters, and my password is longer than that :-(
Can this be fixed? or should I change my password ?

I'd shorten your password. Some LiveID sites get stuck on passwords greater than 8 characters, despite the longer passwords being supported.-steve
