Validation problems with Windows XP and IE 8

Question
-
I have been attempting to address this WGA issue without success. When I go to Windows update it requests that I validate my copy and it takes me to a website that flashes that it is validating and then sends me to a blank page with nothing on it.
I run the diagnostic and it tells me I have a clock error and to resolve it I need to change my setting for images in IE8. Not sure how they are connected but why not. The image setting was checked and still no luck.
Here is the log

Please check your clock and Region settings - they seem to be out-of-whack.Your Region setting is Central Standard Time - if this is correct then check that your time and date are set right. If not, then correct it, and then set the clock to the correct time and date.

I've seen a few people that had the correct Date and time but forgot to check the year. So in addition to Time and Date, also check that the Year is correct as well.

I've been having the same issue with Windows XP machines where the validation just goes to a blank page. My domain time server uses the atomic clock in Colorado (132.163.4.101 and 132.163.4.103) because the default Microsoft time server was a full three minutes behind. Now all the computers, bells, and cell phones are in sync with each other. I've check the date, time, and time zone for the machines that I'm trying to get updates for, but they all have the same problem. I even moved the time back three minutes to match the MS servers but still just shows me a blank page when it says that it is validating. What a pain in the rear. I'm not sure what else to do to fix this stupid problem. Here is from the WGA diag tool:

There appears to be a problem with the validation servers covering your region being on the wrong date - be patient and try again in a few hours. Hopefully MS will have fixed the problem by then. Please see my 'Clock Sync Error - note to sufferers' post.

I did that and even removed the time servers from the DHCP server. It didn't do much but now it at least the windows update website asks me if I want to validate, so now I can skip the validation and get windows updates. Not sure how I did that but geez that's annoying. Thanks.Tuesday, June 7, 2011 7:27 PM
