PC asks for permission for remote mesh access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have 3 computers on my mesh.  2 are Vista 64 bit, 1 is Vista 32 bit.  The two 64 bits allow Mesh access without having to grant permission.  The 32 bit will not allow access unless someone is actually at that PC to grant access.

How do I make the 32 bit machine automatically allow remote Mesh access?

  • That's strange. Is someone logged in on that machine or is nobody logged in when you try to connected via Live Mesh Remote Desktop? Live Mesh will always ask for permission for access when someone is logged in on the machine, but if there is no response within, I think, 30 seconds, the connection is established and you can log in. I don't think I've ever heard of a case where it prompted and never allowed access when no response was made to the remote prompt. I've seen the connection fail with a timeout or error, but you are reporting that if someone grants access it works.

  • You are correct, Stephen.   There was no one using the computer but a background application made it appear so.  I should have just waited.  It was my first day with Mesh.

I am not a newbie...  I'm a Beta tester for Microsoft and have been a certified webmaster for 14 years.

My bad and thanks for the reply.

  • Glad to read that it wasn't a problem - well, except that the delay can be annoying.
