Cannot enable field security for custom email attribute RRS feed

  • Question

  • It seems like that security field cannot be enabled for custom email attribute.
Can anyone confirm this, better with the explanation in SDK or other creditable source.

    Thanks.

  • Kevin,

Sorry I have to correct my answer.  I have confirmed that this is by design.  Email type attributes are NOT securable since they are stored in the email search table.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Kevin,

Could you please clarify what  "Custom Email attribute" means?  Currently, you can NOT enable Field Level Security for any OOB(Out of box) attributes.  You can only enable Field Level Security for custom attributes.  If you add a new attribute to the Email entity, you should be able to enable the FLS of that new created custom attribute.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

I was trying add new field (Single Line of Text/E-mail) on Lead entity with security field Enabled, but got an error message says that "This field cannot be secured." when saving.

  • Hi Mike,

Thanks for confirming this. FYI, my version is CRM 2011 Update Rollup 6 on premise. If this is a bug, please let me know when it's fixed.

    Thanks.
