moving drive to another server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have 3 hard drives on server1 and 1 hard drive in server2. Identical data on both servers - spread over 3 drives on server1 and 1 drive on server2. I want to move 1 drive from server1 to server2. Do I first replicate the data onto each of the 3 drives on server1 then remove 1 drive and place in server2 which should/will then automatically reformat the drive and clear the server1 data and then automatically proceed to rebalance the server2 data between the 2 drives. Back to server1 which still has 2 replicated drives - can I then switch off replication and server1 will automatically rebalance the data again between the 2 drives. The end result I want is 2 servers each with 2 drives with identical data with no replication.

Is this a logical way to progress or could I run into problems - for instance turning replication ON then OFF again on server1?  Thanks

  • I will proceed with removing the hard drive and re-installing as per the WHS help pages.

     No Further Action.
