  •

    THIS IS NOT FUNNY

I have not replaced / renewed any Hardware.

    I Changed my Memory Timings

    AND

VISTA Now tells me my software is not genuine.

    YET - It Updates?????

Microsoft support in ME does not respond to emails. They work Office Hours - So Do I. And my rig is at Home. They don't even list Vista or anything Microsoft post 2005 as supported on their site.

Vista is Activated and says so.

Where / What to do now!

  • If your System Properties window is showing that you're activated and online validation says you're not, please:

    1. Phone activate and speak with a support agent when you’re given the option.  You can start by typing "slui.exe 4" in the search field in the Start Menu and pressing Enter. Follow the prompts through phone activation (be ready for lots of numbers) and then reboot.  The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes.

    2. Once you're done, please revalidate by clicking on "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine

After you've validated successfully you can log out and log back in or reboot to get rid of any non-genuine messaging you may be getting.

If you’ve tried phone activation and you're still reaching the same validation failure page (with error code 0xC004C4A6), please open a free service request by visiting: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?c1=509&gprid=9860 and post your confirmation number here.  I'll contact you directly so we can figure out the cause of your issue.

If you're not in the US, please also post the name of the support agent who contacts you by e-mail once you've made the free service request.

     Thank you!

  • It's not actually a search your doing.  It should run the 'slui 4' command.  Are you by any chance using a preinstalled version of Vista?  Have you tried to activate online?  If you would, please post the results of the WGA diagnostics tool (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012) with any new question.

Please also post the error code you get (if any) when you validate by clicking "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine
The error code will be gray and in brackets at the end of the message on the page that says validation failed.  (It'll look something like this:  [0xC004C000]).

    Thank you!

  • I activate and all is ok.

I Validate and just keep getting told to Activate - IT IS ACTIVATED - reboot and chech - Is Activated. Try validate and...

Windows must be activated before validation can determine if this copy of Windows is genuine.

Access to the latest updates, all available features, and product support is reserved for customers running genuine Microsoft software. Until you activate and validate Windows, certain features of Windows Vista may be disabled.

    Steps You Can Take

Activate now, and then run validation again.

You can activate either online or by phone. To activate online you need an Internet connection. Activating by phone requires interacting with an automated phone system.

To activate Windows on this computer:

    • Click the Start button, click Computer, click Properties, click Click here to activate Windows now. Windows Activation opens.
    • Select the method you want to use to activate, and then follow the prompts or instructions on the screen.

Once Windows is activated, validate your copy of Windows again by going to http://www.Microsoft.com/genuine and clicking Validate Windows.
