Hello,
I just got my EX485 and I'm trying to install the software on my Vista 64 w/ admin privlidges. Right off the bat I get the messgage "Canot complete the operation at this time. Please try again later"
Is it trying o download something from HP? I have a good internet connection.
Thanks for any help.

I didn't try the version that's on the server. The Mediasmart is headless, no place for a keyboard or monitor. The network is working fine. I can ping and see the server from all my computers and all other shared folders on the network are accessible.
From what I understand, the Connector CD just starts the installation process and trys to access the server's folder where the actual Connector software is stored. I don't beleive the Connector software is on the CD as the total CD size is only a little over 1MB.
EDIT:
I was able to install the software by disconnecting the router from the modem...
I think this requires a new thread.

Hi,
No, the software for the Connector(s) is stored on the Server in the Shared Folders/Software/Home Server Connector Software folder, so it shouldn't be trying to connect to the Internet.
Can you confirm if that is what your Client id actually doing, because if so, your Setup has gone wrong somewhere.

It was just a guess thinking it was trying to connect to the internet. Since it said "try again later", I thought it was a connection problem with HP website.
Any ideas why it would say this? I got the message right off the bat. The server is visable in My Network.
Thanks,

Are you trying to install from the Connector CD it came with? (You might want to try contacting HP for support.)Sunday, March 1, 2009 4:56 PMModerator -
Yes, but it seems as though it has to download more infor from the server also.
Thanks,

Hi,
Have you tried the version that's on the Server and if so, do you get the same problem?
If so, it sounds like a network issue, so could you run (from a Command Prompt) 'ipconfig /all' both on a Client and on the Server, and post the reults?

Just as a thought: try disconnecting your router from your internet connection and then try to run the initial setup.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)Monday, March 2, 2009 7:02 PMModerator
