  • Hello cathywater,

I'm going out on a limb and guessing that you are trying to activate a Trial installation of Office 2007 or 2010 by entering the product key printed on the Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) for Windows affixed to the computer.

Please understand that the product key on that computer's CoA is for the installation of Windows on the computer and it is not supposed to work for any other Windows or Office product.

To continue to use Office with full functionality now that the Trial has expired, you will have to purchase a license for Office.  Depending upon the exact type of Office installation, you will need to purchase a full packahed retail product from your favorite local store, or purchase a product key card from the store, or purchase a product key directly from Microsoft at http://store.microsoft.com

Post back if we guessed wrong or if you need more info :-)

  • Where are you getting the activation code (25 characters in a 5-5 list) from?  Is it for the originally installed operating system for the computer?  Are you sure you are typing all the numbers and letters correctly?  B & 8, S & 5, O & 0 and a few other characters look amazingly alike on the Microsoft labels.

  • Yes I'm here. We are volunteers here (except for one or two) and I have been busy trying to track down issues with the new Office 2010.  You still didn't answer all my questions.

Where are you getting the product key from?

Additional Questions.  What product are you trying to install and where did you get it?  What is the exact wording of any errors displayed?
