Oulook only open in "safe mode" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have only been able to open Outlook in "safe mode". > when I first try to open Outlook it freezes and does not open all the way > I use Task Manager to close OUtlook > reopen Outlook and then I get an error message >;:

"Outlook failed to start correctly last time. Starting Outlook in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some functionality may be disabled in this mode.

Do you want to start Outlook in safe mode?"

    >Outlook will open in safe mode > I cannot get Outlook to open regularly. I have tried the following:

*I have run the "Diagnostics" in the OUtlook program ~ everything checks out O.K.

*I have run the "Repair" through the Add/Remove programs in Microsoft Office Professional 2007

*I have tried to go back with the System Restore Tool to an earlier date when the product was working

*I merged "registry" corrections after a minor clean-up of registry items

*I made a new "personal profile" on the computer

*I have uninstalled and re-installed Microsoft Office Professional 2007

Microsoft OUtlook will still not open correctly. I cannot think of anything else to try??

Can anyone help figure out why Microsoft OUtlook will only open in "safe mode"?

thanks for any help correcting this problem,

    sue

  • suebee,

This seems to be out of the scope for Office Genuine Advantage.  You may need to remove something that is an add on to Outlook.
Check in the add/remove programs and delete anything that looks like malware.

You may want to visit the Outlook general forum
    http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.outlook.general

If you feel that this is a validation issue, please run the following:

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

You will be prompted to either “Run” or “Save” the tool. Choose to “Run” the tool and follow the on-screen prompts. You will receive an “Internet Explorer-Security Warning” dialog box for the “Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool”; you must choose to “Run” this tool when prompted.

Once you are presented with the Diagnostics tool choose “Continue” to run the diagnostic report. If the “RESOLVE” button is available after running the diagnostics, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool to attempt a repair.

    1.      After running the MGA Diagnostic tool, click on the “Windows” tab and then click on “Copy”.

    2.      Please return to this post and “Paste” the results here for additional review.
