Boot Disc Error

Question
-
I have the evaluation copy of WHS installed on a self built server. This morning I was replacing a NB fan and was turning the server off and on with power button several times, eventually the server would'nt start up. I hooked up a monitor and saw the error "Boot disc error place system disc in and press enter" so I did especting the disc to run some kind of repair, but it did'nt it installed WHS again wich is alright because I'm just testing and have'nt started really using it yet. My question is what do you do if that happens again say power go's out or whatever? I also should mention taht I changed the setting in the BIOS to never halt on errors, I read somewhere to do this. There is no "repair" installation on WHS. If you have problems with your OS, you boot from the DVD and do a Server Reinstallation. That is a special install mode that wipes the OS partition on the primary hard drive, but keeps the rest of the data in tact. When the Server Reinstallation is complete, all you have to do is re-create your users and re-install your add-ins.- Proposed as answer by kariya21Moderator Saturday, January 2, 2010 4:42 PM

Did you eventually pull a cable from one of the disks or the controllers while replacing the fan? This can happen quickly and will cause the Bios not being able to see the disk and throw such an error which happens still, before WHS even can attempt to start.
