SATA HDD or driver problem?

Question
-
I have tried to build a home server and am very frustrated. I used a new ASUS A8V-X MB, which has 4 SATA slots. I used this MB so that I could use a 939 CPU and RAM that I had already. Each of the SATA slots has a 1TB WD greenpower drive plugged in. WHS installed, and I have updated every driver that I can. The server functions well and connects to the internet fine. But I cannot do a backup from either home computer. One of them crashes the server and the other just fails. If I try to copy a large library of MP3s, it fails at a random point, as few as 2GB or as many as 15GB into the copy.
Checkdisk runs fine, and the server functions well unless I am trying to copy large amounts of data to it. The event viewer has lots of windows search service 3013 errors. At this point, I am ready to take the whole system apart and buy a new motherboard and CPU. Is there anyone out there who has any suggestions?

Have you looked at the logs on the server? )C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Home Server\logs)

It crashed last night when it tried to start backups. The last two log files before it crashed are PartnerManager.072308 below:

And then chkdisk.c_fs_6.log which only contains "The type of the file system is NTFS"
The NIC driver is updated and I can use the internet well, actually am typing on the server now...?
