Virus Completly Crashed Hard Drive One Care did Not Catch Virus need to reload One Care & Access Back Up Files RRS feed

  • Hello & HELP I subscribed to Windows Live One Care recently after it help us catch some trojoan Viruses my other security program missed. Following One Care's insructions I bought an external hard driver and used windows loive one care to creat the back up copy on the new external drive. Now comes the fun part My 13 year old daughter downloaded some free music that was infected with a virus that windows live one care did not catch my system completely crashed hard drives were wiped out. I spent five hours on the phone with Dell getting my system reloaded and running. I can not access the external drive because my new system does not have windows live one care installed on it. I can access my live one care account but I cannot re down load live one care on my system. HELP!!!! What do I need to do???? Desperate in Viginia! Hank Turner

  • You can install OneCare from http://onecare.live.com and activate/subscribe with your subscription LiveID or choose to leave it in trial mode until you have restored the backup from the external drive.

    If you do not want to install OneCare, your backups are stored in compressed .zip files that can be opened with WinZip and other compression utility programs. Larger files will need to be rejoined if they were split by the backup process. A free utility to rejoin files is:
