Copy of Windows not Genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • My screen background has changed to black with lower right corner "Windows Vista (TM) Build 6002 This copy of Windows is not genuine"

I have tried 2 fixes posted in another thread with no luck. they were the slui.exe and the cmd.exe as administrator cscritp... and reboot three times. My copy is genuine as it came installed on my Compaq.

I've tried that. I cannot run it. The error message is:

    C:\Users\diana\Desktop\MGADiag.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

That sounds like it could be a corrupted download - try again with a fresh download.

If that fails in the same way, then you may have a malware infection - see if you can download and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (www.malwarebytes.org) once installed, update it, and run a scan in every user account - see what it finds.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
