    This error is usually caused by connectivity problems between the computer and the Validation servers at MS
    First try going to the validation site, and attempt to Validate Windows...
    If that fails, you should be offered the chance to diagnose the problem
    post back with the detailed results, and error messages - if any.

    Ran the validation no problem says it is genuine.  However, My computer properties still says it is not.  I ran the validation through firefox AND internet explorer with same results (it is genuine).  I've also restarted the computer.

     

    I redid the diagnosis.

    I think Noels advice in running the validation fixed it. Keep the diagnostic tool handy generate a new report if it reoccurs.
