Automatic Backups RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Windows Live One Care installed on a new Gateway computer with Windows Vista Home Premium installed. I have configured the automatic backup to backup at 1:00am to an external drive via USP port. Manual backups work O.K. The scheduled backup did not occur after I put the computer to Sleep. I have an admistrator account with password set. Do I have to eliminate the password requirement to start the computer or should the scheduled backup work with a password requirement?

    Thank you,

    Victor

  • The backup will not wake the computer to perform that action. You'll need to use Windows Task Scheduler to schedule some other task, perhaps as simple as opening Notepad.exe, to wake the PC from Sleep mode shortly before backup is scheduled to begin. It isn't a password issue if the drive is attached via USB, that is locally.
