How do I create a billing account RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been trying and trying to renew OneCare and have been unsuccessful because I am told that I do not have a billing account with microsoft.  I am provided a link to create a billing account but when I go there it is just a page wanting me to sign up for microsoft services.

I have had no luck trying to reach "support".  I sent a description of my problem but the only response I got was a request as to whether I was satisfied with their response, which I never received.

Not being able to contact anyone via email really SUCKS.

  • Try signing in directly to http://billing.microsoft.com

In OneCare, click Help/About. Is the Bellsouth email address your Subscription ID?

What version of OneCare are you running?

  • I might be able to help you out on this one. Your Windows Live ID is your billing account. It's possible you may have forgotten your LiveID. You can go open up OneCare on your machine, go to Help -> About and next to the 'Subscription ID' field you'll notice your Windows Live ID. You can use that LiveID and sign-in into billing page. (Ofcourse, you hopefully still remember your password).

Also, you can reach email support from within OneCare (help -> Windows Live OneCare Help -> More help ).

Let me know if this works out for you..

  • I think Partha has explained it quite well. I'll simply add that if you continue to have problems, open a new support case -

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

and make sure to check your Junk Mail or SPAM folders for the response email in about 24 hours in most cases.

Is it the LiveID that is shown in OneCare - Help/About?

  • This is the sequence that I go through:

When I boot up I get an announcement that Windows OneCare requires attention.

I open OneCare and am told to "renew to stay protected".

    I select the "Renew" button.

I am then asked to sign in with my Windows Live ID, which I do using my Bellsouth email address.

I then get a page with "Unable to complete request" try again later   Message 2002.

    I then select "Continue"

I then get a page with the message "No billing account", go to http://join.msn.com/

This page asks me to sign up for one of the MSN services and OneCare is not one of them.

    I hope this helps
