  • Well Windows XP is no longer sold or manufactured by Microsoft.  Windows XP service pack 3 is the only version of Windows XP that is still supported by the tech support team.  You can contact your local Microsoft Headquarters to find more information about where you can purchase Microsoft products, locally.  To contact them, you can find all their available contact information at http://www.microsoft.com/worldwide .

However please be aware that since the release of Windows 7 in October of 2009 Windows Vista and Windows XP are no longer sold by Microsoft.  You might be able to locate a local retailer where you can purchase the software, otherwise I suggest that you look into purchasing Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate.  both versions of Windows 7 have a special feature called "XP Mode".  XP Mode is part of the Virtual PC software and helps with compatibility with all software.  Nearly all software that runs with Windows XP can be run with XP Mode, as it simulates Windows XP, entirely.  For more information, please visit www.microsoft.com/xpmode .

To check if your computer is capable of running virtualization software, Microsoft has created a detection tool to help.  You can find this tool, as well as more information about it at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0ee2a17f-8538-4619-8d1c-05d27e11adb2&displaylang=en .
