There is no drive limit as you're thinking of it; you can install as many drives as will fit (or as you can connect). However, the SATA controller that drives the eSATA port on the HP units only recognizes 4 drives.

if you update the esata marvel( sp) driver you may be able to get it to recognize the 5th port this is not an automatic update has to be down by hand
