Can you bypass update to put OneCare from FAIR back to GOOD status. RRS feed

  • Question

  • OneCare has put my system from GOOD to FAIR status because it says that I need to update Office 2007 with SP1 but I am on a dial up and can not download the 600 meg plus file.

So far I can not even find a way of ordering the SP1 on CD.

What can I do to put my system back to a GOOD status?

  • I wasn't aware that Office 2007 SP1 was offered on Microsoft Update yet, but I'll take you word for it. It is 218 megs, but that's still going to take hours on dial-up. :-(

If it has been staged as a critical/important update, then there's no way to change your at risk status, I'm afraid.

You might try going to Windows Update and clicking on Change Settings. Scroll down and opt out of Microsoft Update, reverting to Windows Update. That should cause the Office Update to no longer appear and may get you back to green...
