  • I'm not sure if a recent change has made the previous annoying report in the Tune-up report go from bad to worse or if you actually have a problem with Defrag.

Defrag in OneCare is the same as Defrag found at Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools. In OneCare it runs for a limited period of time before quitting. The Tune-up report would often state that Defrag didn't complete due to high disk fragmentation, which is incorrect in part, since the reason it didn't complete is time and not actual fragmentation in all cases.

However, it could be that there is a problem with your disk, causing an issue with Defrag.

Try running Degrag manually from the start menu. If it completes successfully, then it is the timing error reworded and you can safely ignore it as the limited defrag has still helped your system. If it fails, it will tell you that you need to check the disk for errors and repair them before it can proceed. Do this by opening Windows Explorer, right clicking the drive icon for your disk and selecting Properties/Tools/Error Check - Check for errors and select to fix errors. If it wants to check at reboot, agree to this and reboot the PC.
